Out & About
Although Gardenstown has everything
you need for a fantastic holiday, it is also a great base from
which to explore the surrounding area. Macduff Aquarium is only
10 mins drive away or cross the bridge to Banff and visit the
Duff House Gallery. Banff is on the doorstep of whisky country
and well signposted whisky trails can be followed with the only
problem being who will drive back?? If golf's your thing then
visit Royal Tarlair (with dramatic clifftop layout) or Duff House
Royal, widely recognised as one of the finest and best manicured
parkland courses in the country and designed by Dr Alistair McKenzie
who also has Augusta National on his design portfolio.
The Moray Firth offers a smorgasboard
of natural delights and dolphins can regularly be seen in Gamrie
Bay and in turn from the windows of 131 Harbour Road . Troup Head
(3 miles from Gardenstown) is one of only two mainland gannet
colonies in the UK and features dramatic, expansive panoramic
views along the Moray Firth and beyond. The reserve comprises
a coastal strip approximately 2.5 miles (4 km) in length, impressive
sea cliffs, steep vegetated slopes and rocky beaches. This important
seabird colony contains significant populations of fulmars, gannets,
shags, kittiwakes, guillemots, razorbills and puffins. Over 150,000
breeding seabirds are present here in the summer months.
Whether business or pleasure,
action or leisure, Gardenstown and the surrounding area ticks
every box.
